It is not
easy to learn the secrets of Astro trading: there are not schools, courses or
commercial books that go beyond the basics. The learning curve is steep, few
astro traders are willing to share their secret techniques. My website Astro-Trading.net is one of the
few places where you can find free
articles, software and plenty of material to start learning. Astro trading is not the horoscope of the
day, Astro trading is a science with the main features of ancient sciences: it
is symbolic and esoteric.
Astro
trading is an esoteric science because,
like ancient sciences, it is treated confidentially and shared only among selected few
to escape popular prejudice, skepticism and plagiary.
"Esoterikos" in ancient Greek meant "internal" from
"eso" (inside) because only the initiated or insiders could learn and
participate to the secret science being taught.
Astro
trading is a symbolic science because,
like ancient sciences, it relies on the use and comprehension of symbols: the
only real bibliography for studying astro-trading is composed by ancient books with
strong symbolic references. This is because the ancients knew that any book written in a
language other than symbolic in the course of time become non understandable
through changes of language and meaning of words but symbols stand to the test
of time and they are the same in all tongues and peoples.
In my
website Astro-Trading.net I share links, materials and articles to explain astro trading through a language that is not
esoteric and not symbolic so that it can be accessible to a wider
audience. A similar approach can be
found in the community of Wave 59 whose founder is Earik Beann: sharing similar
ideas and interests with him I have started to promote on my website some software
and books that are accessible through
Wave 59 website thinking by so doing to benefit the readers of my books and the visitors of
my websites as well.
Here I
have decided to review the book "Handbook of Market Esoterica" : a
little known book sold on the Wave 59 website which can probably
be found by word of mouth. It is really a little known gem, probably the only
book available around that discuss subjects like the magic numbers, the price
to time relationship, astro-numerology, number vibration and, more interestingly, these subjects are
discussed from a trader's perspective making this book a very rare and unique
opportunity to really become an "insider" in the esoteric world of
astro trading . I will try to review the
book in its strengths and weaknesses so that interested buyers, before
investing in this text can make a more informed decision.
REVIEW
The "Handbook of Market Esoterica" is a book written by Earik Beann in 2005 about
vibration, astrology numerology and their potential use in the financial market
arena on the assumption that Time, Price, planetary degree and volume are just
different measurement of the same underlying energy. The author Earik Beann, former CTA with a
trading background, is President and CEO of Wave 59 Technologies (founded in
1997), a software corporation focused on applying natural law to financial
markets, he is author of many books and articles about natural law principles
applied to trading. I rank him one of
the most authoritative authors among those following the footsteps of authors
such W.D. Gann and George Bayer.
Review of
the “Market Esoterica” Contents:
-The first
part of the book is about Bar Count,
Magic Numbers, Volume Cycles and Price/Time: if you accept the assumption that time,
price, planetary degree and volume are just different measurement of the same
underlying energy than you must accept the logical consequence that markets have resonant frequencies so the most
important lows and highs are just a reflection of a resonance phenomenon. This
is a subject that I have studied a lot
and I have also written my own opinion about it on my book Wall Street
Watchman: for this reason I have read with particular attention this part of the "Handbook of Market Esoterica" and I have found it the most interesting in the book. Here you can find plenty of
original ideas and inspiration to develop new and promising timing tools for
your trading/investing.

-Next there
is a part about Geometric Patterns
and their use in trading: the use of ellipses is described in great detail,
here the ideas are clearly inspired by the works of George Bayer, although
explained more clearly and applied in a more practical way. More complex patterns such as the Flower of
Live are described, I found this part really original but honestly with little
practical use.
-Planetary Declination and their use as
forecasting tools and measure for price levels:
this is a very important concept developed by W.D Gann in the first half
of the last century, the declination of some planets very often seems to
forecast ups and downs in prices of some assets, this is one of the tools that
I also use for my own forecasts. Gann
developed this tool and he mentioned it here and there in some of his writings:
but you will never find this technique described so well and with so many
example like in the Handbook of Market Esoterica .
Microsoft daily chart. The forecast line shown on the chart was calculated using a planetary declination as described in The Market Esoterica Handbook : chart created with Wave59®
-Intraday astro patterns: here the author describes how
planetary configurations generate energy that can be used by the market and
explains how to use a zodiac wheel to find price levels and times that can be
used to generate signals for intraday trading. Again, here the concept is not
new but never described and explained elsewhere with clear examples and
instructions. The same can be said about the description of tools like the
square of nine or the hexagon.
-The last
part of the book “Astronumerology”: this
is based on the assumption that everything that exist, large (like planets) or
small (like atoms), possesses a number that exactly gives a mathematical
expression of the thing itself: these numbers can help to find resonant prices
and times in trading ….not only physical things have these number but abstract
things such dates or period of times have their expression in numbers. This concept is also very interesting but it
is so complex that I cannot really comment here in few lines: in the Handbook of Market Esoterica you will find described one of
the possible approach to this subject, not necessarily the most promising one
in my opinion, yet worth of additional research.
As you can
see there is plenty of contents in this handbook and a reader can just choose one
of the above subjects (that one that is most interesting to him or the one that
best fits to his trading/investing style), focus on it and use the author’s
guidelines to develop his own unique and original timing or forecasting tool.
Do not expect to find here a mechanical trading rule or method that you can
simply learn and use without additional work: here you can really find the
building blocks of your own new trading technique .
Some of the
ideas and concepts developed and described by the author in the Handbook of Market Esoterica are new, some are based on existing sources of inspiration, however the author
is fair enough to quote these sources and explicitly name some of them such as W.D.
Gann, George Bayer, Satyanarayana Rao
(this one I had never heard about before
and he is mentioned by the author when he describes how to obtain a single
measure of the planetary pull excerpted on the markets) Onley Richmond and
others….the author must have really studied in deep the existing literature and
developed his own views: the result is
an original piece of work, a small gem in the astro trading bibliography. The
price of this book is high (as of writing 495 USD), maybe beyond many people’
budget, however in my opinion it is worth that price because the “Handbook of Market Esoterica” is probably more a manual
than a simple book and to learn these things by yourself is possible but
probably much more expensive.
